When you are designing in Quark, having objects outside of the defined page area can cause major problems. When things run off the page, do not cover then up with big white boxes. This can cause the program to not save your document. It just disappears. It can also cause you major headaches in printing.
It seems that slightly outside of the page is OK but when things get very far outside the page size bad things happen.
Use the Item>Merge tools to cut shapes if needed (or the scissors tool.) Or redefine the page size to a larger page size for design. Then when you have the design, add a layout to that project and make everything the correct size and position.
I'll continue to check to see if there is another way to do this but heads up for now.
